My Report on Search Engines

What is a search engine?

Simply put, a search engine is a program on the Internet that enables you to find information. You usually fill out a form and click on the 'search' icon and these miracles of modern technology give you a page of links to go to to find this information. Neat huh?

Why is a search engine important?

There is lots of great and useful information in a library, but it's physically impossible to examine all the books personally. Not even the most indefatigable web-surfer could hyperlink to all the documents in the aptly named World Wide Web. There are millions of pages and billions of words on the Web. It is important that you need information via Internet by selecting the most appropriate search engines to find out what you really want.
